Moe Brown, Managing Consultant

Moe Brown boasts a diverse background of experience and a long track record of getting things done. Moe is the former Democratic Nominee for South Carolina's 5th Congressional District in 2020. Running as a first-time candidate, Moe won a historic Democratic Primary receiving the most votes in history.

Prior to his run, he worked for Dixon Hughes Goodman, LLP leading their Economic Development and Negotiated Incentives service offering. Also, he served as the Managing Director for Hill Impact, LLC, and was Project Manager for the South Carolina Dept. of Commerce, at which he recruited over 5,000 jobs and nearly $1 billion of capital investment.

Moe is a double BA degree holder for Finance and Marketing from the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina. He was recognized as a Distinguished Young Alumnus in 2017, the highest honored awarded by the school. Also, he played football for Hall of Fame Coach, Steve Spurrier and was a team captain his senior year.

 

 

Dr. Harris Pastides, Senior Scientific Advisor for Public Health

Harris Pastides is President Emeritus of the University of South Carolina, the state’s flagship system of eight institutions in 20 geographic locations. He served as its 28th president (2008-2019) and as interim president (May 2021- June 2022).

Since arriving at the university in 1998, Pastides has held the positions of vice president for research and health sciences and dean of the Arnold School of Public Health. He has chaired the NCAA Division I Board of Directors and served as the president of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). In 2016, he was one of seven Fulbright alumni to receive the inaugural Global Changemaker Award in recognition of his ongoing commitment to transform society and humanity through his work. The son of Greek immigrants, Pastides received the 2017 Ellis Island Medal of Honor which pays homage to the immigrant experience and the contributions made to our nation by immigrants and their children. In 2019, he was awarded the Degree of Doctor of Science (Medicine) honoris causa by the University of Nicosia Medical School and, in 2022, he was awarded the Presidential Award for Lifetime Achievement.

Pastides’ board service includes the U.S. Council on Competitiveness, Universities Research Assocation and Synovus Bank. He chairs the Fulbright Program’s Council for the International Exchange of Scholars and is on the Executive Committee of the Institute for International Education. He serves as the only non-physician member of the Board of Trustees of the American Medical Association.

Pastides earned a Master of Public Health and PhD in Epidemiology from Yale University.

 

Duane Cooper, Senior Consultant for Government & Public Relations

Duane Cooper is native of Manning, South Carolina who is an expert in public affairs, government relations, advocacy, policy, and fundraising professional with over 15 years of working on issues at the local, state, and federal levels of government. He is the former Executive Director of the House Democratic Caucus (2013-2021) and Senior Advisor to the South Carolina Legislative Black Caucus. He is currently a member of the Columbia Metropolitan Airport Commission, the leading cargo airport in the state.

Duane is the owner of Strategic Films, a South Carolina-based film production company whose 2021 production in partnership with South Carolina Educational Television (SCETV), Downing of a Flag, we a 2022 Nominee for the National Emmy Award for Best Historical Documentary and 2022 Nominee for the Prestigious Peabody Award. He is also the founder of the non-profit organization, The Minority Film Institute.

 

Dr. Davis Moore, Senior Scientific Advisor for Human Performance

Dr. Davis Moore an interdisciplinary scientist drawing from the fields of neuroscience and psychology, exercise science, and sports medicine. Dr. Moore has conducted significant research on how various health factors such as physical activity/fitness, obesity and nutrition affect neurocognition and psychophysiological function; additionally, he conducted extensive research on concussive injuries in athletes and Veterans.

Dr. Moore strives in creating ecologically valid paradigms and using psychophysiological measures such as EEG and event-related potentials, heart rate variability, eye-tracking and pupillometry which assist to understand and predict how individuals perform in daily life.

Dr. Moore is an Assistant professor, USC Department of Exercise Science & Institute for Mind & Brain and Director, USC Concussion & Health Neuroscience Laboratory.

 

Steven Clincy (CPA) – CFO & Senior Advisor

Steven Clincy – brings a wealth of knowledge covering accounting, taxation and compliance for corporate and government entities. He also is the head of the Tax and Accounting department at Total Strategic Group, as well as an adjunct professor of Accounting and Taxation at UVI.

Before moving to the St. Thomas, USVIs, Steven was the Head of Global Tax for Werner Co. In that role, he was responsible for all global tax compliance, forecasting, planning, and provisioning. Prior to joining Werner Co., Mr. Clincy was the North American Tax Director for ACN. Before ACN, he was a tax manager with EY where he served as a consultant in the financial services area. He began his career at Arthur Andersen, LLP.

Steven received his Bachelors in Accounting from Moorehouse College and his Masters in Taxation from Georgia State University.
